GSL Education are partnering with a specialist provision in Newcastle to appoint a dedicated SEMH Teacher who can inspire, support, and guide young people who face significant barriers to learning.
About the Role/Role Overview
This is a rewarding teaching opportunity within a specialist setting that supports pupils with SEMH and associated needs. As an SEMH Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in re-engaging students in learning and enabling positive outcomes.
Responsibilities of the SEMH Teacher:
* Plan and deliver creative, inclusive lessons across a range of subjects, adapted to individual learning styles.
* Support pupils in building confidence, resilience, and emotional regulation.
* Work closely with a team of support staff, behaviour mentors, and therapists.
* Use strategies to manage challenging behaviour calmly and constructively.
* Track progress and provide regular feedback to parents, carers, and staff.
* Foster a safe and supportive classroom climate that promotes trust and respect.
Requirements of the SEMH Teacher: To be considered for this role, you must have:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a strong teaching background in alternative settings.
* Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs or in SEND/SEMH/alternative provisions.
* A nurturing, patient, and adaptive teaching style.
* Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
* Ability to develop personalised learning plans and differentiate effectively.
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply through GSL Education).
