This is a newly created position driven by growth and the need for dedicated, proactive management of key operational and administrative areas. The Practice Manager will play a crucial role in streamlining processes, enhancing team support, and ensuring consistency across the firm. The successful Practice Manager will be expected to: * Previously worked within an accountancy & audit background * Organised, pro-active & detail-orientated * Confident within implementing systems & managing people The successful Practice Manager will be rewarded with: * Unique opportunity to shape a position that impacts success & growth * Career stability within a reputable and established accountancy practice * Convenient local transport links Job Description: The successful Practice Manager will be responsible for taking ownership of managing chargeable and non-chargeable tasks, team co-ordination and office operations, allowing managers and directors to focus on their chargeable responsibilities while driving significant improvements in efficiency, team morale, and job recovery rates. Duties to include but not limited to: * Oversee the onboarding process, ensuring IT hardware setup, software access, and consistent communication of office systems and policies (e.g., TOIL, parking, WFH). * Develop and implement training programs for staff; establish systems like buddy programs to support new hires. * Standardise procedures using tools like System Builder to ensure consistency in records, accounts, and system use. * Manage holiday, TOIL, overtime, and WFH schedules to maintain fairness and ensure adequate staffing for support and training. * Create and implement fair and transparent HR policies, define job roles and responsibilities, and establish career progression pathways for staff. * Conduct consistent annual appraisals and potentially audit assignment appraisals to support staff development and performance reviews. * Ensure accurate timesheet entries, reduce inefficiencies, and enforce pre-approval for overtime to improve job recovery. * Assist with administrative aspects of ISQM and audit appraisals to relieve management of routine tasks. * Handle payroll, including TOIL, holiday records, CPD monitoring, and expense claims, transitioning processes to CCH or similar systems. * Manage the intake, maintenance, and return of client records, ensuring compliance with engagement letters, ID checks, and anti-ML requirements. * Plan and execute team-building and work-related events to boost morale and engagement. * Implement and manage an effective reminders system for team tasks and deadlines. * Act as main point of contact for external service providers This position is ideal for a proactive individual seeking to take ownership in a dynamic and impactful role, where ideas are valued and implemented to support the company’s continued growth and long-term success.
