Overview
This is a Band 7 post as Approved Mental Health Social Worker (AMHP) in the Adult Mental Health Social Work Team on the Island of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands.
Responsibilities
* Provide intensive, recovery‑focused mental health support to clients in the hospital and wider community.
* Conduct urgent and non‑urgent assessments for people presenting with severe mental health issues and/or acute risk.
* Participate in the Island‑wide rota for ASW/AMP duties, liaising with GPs, FMEs and psychiatrists.
* Develop and maintain multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency working.
Location
The Island of Guernsey is located in the Channel Islands and has a population of 65,000. It features fine beaches, a mild climate and a historic harbour town in St Peter's Port, the island's capital.
Requirements
* Social Worker with current full Social Work England (or equivalent devolved UK registration)
* Completion of appropriate ASW/AMHP training
* Minimum of two years current or recent practice experience working as an AMHP
* Ability to make judgments and decisions with confidence, cope in stressful situations, prioritise and manage own workload
* Possession of a clean and current car driving licence
Remuneration and Benefits
* Band 7 salary range: £55,578 to £73,085
* Annual bonus of £1,605
* Unsocial hours enhancements: 36% evening/Saturday and 72% Sunday/BH
* Annual leave: starts at 36 days up to 42 days with full credit for NHS or UK Local Authority service
