LOCATION: Salford (Hybrid working)
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £24,600 - £31,700 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF ROLE
The BBC Bitesize Other Side of the Story project helps to empower young people to make positive changes to the way they consume and share content
Aimed at a teen audience, we aim to help young people to think critically about what they see and share online.
As part of the Other Side of the Story project, Solve the Story is an exciting new series designed to help young people strengthen their media literacy skills, and equip teachers and secondary students with practical tools to tackle misinformation and disinformation. Click here to watch the series.
Following the success of last year's commission, we're now in the very early stages of planning the next Solve the Story for 2026/27.
Note there are two roles available: one focused on day-to-day Other Side of the Story web content, and the second role working on the Solve the Story commission.
WHY JOIN THE TEAM
Media literacy is at the forefront of the BBC's Charter renewal plans and a priority for BBC Bitesize. Government plans to strengthen media literacy in schools and make it a mandatory part of primary and secondary curriculums, are also underway.
This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced researcher with excellent planning and organisation skills and a passion for connecting with young people, to champion media literacy and inspire and help young people make informed decisions about the things they see and share online.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
Contribute creative ideas to meetings and brainstorming sessions
Help to plan and organise schedules
Conduct and compile research, including outreach with schools and teachers to help inform content
Encourage sign-ups and help promote Solve the Story to teachers, schools, internal teams and external organisations
Create content for the Other Side of the Story website, including writing articles and creating quizzes
Supporting AP's as they manage multiple projects
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
Strong organisational skills, clear communication, and attention to detail.
Excellent research and factchecking skills
Ability to juggle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and remain positive and proactive under pressure.
Some experience of writing articles and/or creating quizzes
Awareness of teen audience, their interests and knowledge of social media and trending topics
DESIRABLE
Experience of working on content aimed at younger audiences, and with schools creating classroom content
Experience of working with partners, external stakeholders and/or indies on commissions
Editing on Photoshop and Premier Pro
