About The Opportunity
Energy Programmes is one of our newest Business Units and has been formed with the vision to support positive change and help shape the future of nuclear power. Our embedded teams are supporting Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C, helping develop technologies in SMR (small modular reactor) capability, and working towards building Poland’s first energy power station. Working in both client‑facing and internal roles, we deliver major programme and project‑management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. Amentum is currently recruiting a System Engineer who will support the design, replication, and commissioning of fluid systems across two major infrastructure projects. The role involves both technical analysis and coordination across disciplines to ensure system integrity and readiness.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct replication analysis of existing fluid system designs.
* Review and verify input data, requirements, and lessons learned from similar projects.
* Establish processes for replicating system design documentation, including process descriptions, mechanical and instrumentation/control (I&C) sizing.
* Where adaptation is needed, perform component sizing (e.g., pumps, pipework, tanks) and thermal‑hydraulic modelling using internal or commercial tools.
* Provide technical input to procurement teams for specification development and supplier engagement.
* Update configuration tools and documentation to reflect design modifications.
* Manage and assess modification requests for system applicability.
* Develop and present multidisciplinary technical solutions that support design stability.
* Resolve complex technical issues in a proactive and timely manner.
Commissioning Support
* Participate in project reviews and meetings (e.g., kick‑off, maturity, gate reviews).
* Produce updated documentation and redlines as required.
* Provide system‑level inputs to support commissioning documentation and sequencing.
Qualifications
* Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent).
* Minimum 3 years of experience in process engineering or relevant industry experience.
* Proficiency in fluid systems design, including process, hydraulic, mechanical sizing, instrumentation and control; basic understanding of electrical systems.
* Strong ability to manage workload and produce high‑quality documentation within deadlines.
* Clear and effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
* Confidence in collaborating with remote teams across different locations.
