Central Scotland Valuation Joint Board covers the Clackmannanshire, Falkirk and Stirling Council areas. The Assessor for the Valuation Joint Board is responsible for compiling and maintaining the Valuation Roll for Non-Domestic Rates and the Valuation List for Council Tax. The Assessor is also the Electoral Registration Officer for three Councils (Falkirk, Stirling and Clackmannanshire) and in that capacity is responsible for maintaining the Register of Electors and Absent Vote Lists. The Board employs approximately 45 people and our office is at Glendevon House, Castle Business Park, Stirling, FK9 4TZ.
An exciting opportunity for career development has arisen as we look to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Divisional Assessor to work within our Valuation Team.
Applications are invited from members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors with significant post qualification experience for Rating purposes and a good working knowledge of the law and practice of Valuation for Rating and Council Tax.
Duties will include managing a Valuation team, providing specialist advice and guidance to staff in all valuation matters, the survey and valuation of complex properties for Rating purposes, the negotiation of appeals with ratepayers and professional agents, acting as an expert witness and/or advocate before the Local Taxation Chamber First-Tier Tribunal for Scotland. As a member of the Management Team, contribute to management team meetings, various departmental meetings and represent CSVJB at external meetings including as an ordinary member of the SAA.
