Rate of Pay : £134.80- £177.58 per day Summary: The Court of Protection Officer plays a critical role in safeguarding the property and financial affairs of vulnerable adults who lack the mental capacity to manage their own interests. Working under the delegated authority of the Court-Appointed Deputy, you will be responsible for enforcing Court Orders and ensuring the Council fulfills its legal obligations to the client, the Court of Protection, and the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG).This role requires a unique blend of legal compliance, financial acumen, and social care awareness. You will navigate complex government systems and financial institutions to secure the best interests of the client, ensuring all actions comply with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the Local Authority Deputy Standards. Responsibilities: Act under the delegated authority of the Court-Appointed Deputy to implement and enforce specific Court Orders on behalf of the Council and the client. Ensure all activities meet the Local Authority Deputy Standards set by the OPG and remain in strict compliance with the Mental Capacity Act (2005). Represent the Court of Protection team at multi-disciplinary meetings, ensuring the client's financial interests are protected during care planning. Advise families and Social Workers on legal procedures following the death of a client, specifically regarding funeral arrangements and the administration of the estate under Court of Protection rules. Provide expert guidance and training to Adult Social Care staff regarding the Court of Protection process and financial safeguarding. Qualifications : A relevant professional qualification in Finance, Law, or Social Care administration, or equivalent significant experience in a similar role. Essentials: Proven experience working within a legal or financial environment, specifically dealing with the Court of Protection or Deputyship services. Experience working with or on behalf of vulnerable adults and an understanding of the challenges associated with mental incapacity. A deep understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the Local Authority Deputy Standards. A track record of successful liaison with government bodies (DWP, HMRC) and financial institutions.
