Locum Solicitor – Adult Social Care£65 per hour
3‑month contract initially with high likelihood of extension

We are recruiting an experienced Adult Social Care Solicitor to join a busy and well‑regarded local authority legal team on an interim basis. This assignment is initially for around 3 months, with a strong likelihood of extension while a permanent hire is sought.
The RoleYou will manage a full ASC caseload, providing high‑quality advice and representation across a wide range of adult social care matters. The role requires someone confident, capable, and able to hit the ground running with minimal supervision. Your caseload will include:
1. Section 117 Mental Health Act matters
2. Mental Capacity Act (MCA) issues
3. Care Act duties and care home funding concerns
4. General Adult Social Care advisory and litigation work
You will work alongside another ASC solicitor and have support from an experienced caseworker.
Key Requirements
5. Qualified Solicitor with 3+ years PQE (PQE 2+ considered if highly capable)
6. At least 2 years’ specialist experience handling Adult Social Care matters
7. Ideally, experience gained within a local authority setting
8. Ability to manage a varied and fast‑paced caseload independently
9. Proactive, self‑reliant, and able to work well under pressure
10. Strong teamwork andmunication skills
Flexible working: 2 days in office preferred, with remote work considered subject to review
