Job summary: This is a brand new post created due to service expansion. This is an opportunity to join an already exciting and dynamic women and children's team. This role will provide a highly specialist clinical pharmacy service within the Women & Children's Directorate, ensuring high quality, safe, effective, legal and accurate use of medicines within the specialty. The Senior Pharmacist will maintain a regular clinical commitment to both women and paediatric wards; prescribing and neonatal experience would be desirable. The post holder will deputise for the Lead Directorate Pharmacist when required.
Main duties of the job: To provide a highly specialist clinical pharmacy service within the Women & Children\'s Directorate, ensuring high quality, safe, effective, legal and accurate use of medicines within the speciality. The Senior Pharmacist will maintain a regular clinical commitment to both women and paediatric wards and will provide information support for division and specialist pharmacists and will deputise for the Lead Directorate Pharmacist when required.

Responsibilities
* Participate in other areas of clinical pharmacy practice in order to ensure a broad base of pharmaceutical knowledge
* To participate in weekend/public holiday and on-call rotas
* To assist the Department in the production of ward and on-call rotas
* To participate in the operational management rota
* Liaise with other clinical pharmacists to ensure efficient transfer of drug related care
* Be aware of, and apply, relevant legislation such as the HA SAWA, COSHH, Medicines Act, GMP etc.
* At all times practice in accordance with the Code of Ethics of the General Pharmaceutical Council
Person Specification
Experience
* Womens and Children\'s experience as a registered pharmacist
* Experience working in hospital pharmacy, including providing clinical pharmacy services
* Experience in training healthcare professionals
* Implementing research into practice
* Working as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Supervision of staff
Desirable
* NICU experience
* Paediatric/NICU TPN experience
Qualifications
* Registered as a practising Pharmacist with the GPhC
* Clinical pharmacy certificate or relevant experience
Desirable
* Variety of clinical practice to include Women and Children\'s experience
* Independent prescriber
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* MSc. in Clinical Pharmacy
