The salary for this role is in line with PayScale (£30,000 - £46,525).
Role Overview:
As a Geography Teacher, you will have the opportunity to inspire and engage students in the fascinating study of our planet and its landscapes, environments, and societies. You will deliver high-quality Geography lessons to students across key stages 3 and 4, nurturing their curiosity, understanding, and appreciation of the world around them.
Key Responsibilities:
* Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver dynamic and interactive Geography lessons that are aligned with the national curriculum and examination board specifications, catering to the diverse needs and abilities of students.
* Geographical Concepts: Introduce students to key geographical concepts, including physical and human geography, environmental processes, and sustainable development, fostering critical thinking and inquiry skills.
* Fieldwork and Investigation: Organize and conduct fieldwork activities and geographical investigations, providing students with practical experiences to develop their observational, analytical, and research skills.
* Geospatial Technologies: Utilize geospatial technologies, such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing, to enhance students' understanding of geographical phenomena and support their data analysis and interpretation.
* Global Perspectives: Explore global issues and challenges, such as climate change, migration, and social inequality, within a geographical context, encouraging students to develop empathy, awareness, and informed perspectives.
* Cross-Curricular Links: Collaborate with colleagues to integrate geographical themes and concepts into interdisciplinary learning experiences, fostering connections between Geography and other subject areas.
* Assessment and Feedback: Assess students' progress and attainment through formative and summative assessment methods, providing constructive feedback to support their academic growth and achievement.
* Pastoral Support: Build positive and supportive relationships with students, offering pastoral guidance and support to address any personal or academic challenges they may encounter.
Ideal Candidate:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification with a specialism in Geography.
* Passion for Geography education and a commitment to inspiring and motivating students to explore and understand the world around them.
* Experience teaching Geography at the secondary level, with a comprehensive understanding of the national curriculum and assessment requirements.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and connect with students from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
* Enthusiasm for incorporating innovative teaching methods and resources, including digital technologies and real-world examples, to enhance students' learning experiences.
