About the Role:
The Financial Controller is responsible for the delivery and integrity of financial reporting and the effective operation of financial controls across Admiral Pioneer.
Reporting to the Head of Finance, the role ensures that finance processes, controls and reporting are executed accurately and efficiently, supporting a robust and scalable finance function.
The role focuses on operational excellence, control execution and continuous improvement within a growing and evolving business environment.
Main Responsibilities:
Financial reporting & Close
1. Deliver accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting
2. Prepare statutory accounts and support regulatory reporting processes
3. Ensure reporting complies with relevant accounting standards and internal policies
4. Maintain high-quality supporting documentation and audit trails
Financial Controls
5. Operate and maintain an effective financial control environment
6. Perform and review key controls including reconciliations and balance sheet reviews
7. Support the ongoing development and improvement of financial controls
8. Identify control gaps and escalate issues to the Head of Finance
Processes & Systems
9. Own day-to-day finance processes including period-end close and reporting cycles
10. Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy and scalability
11. Support implementation of new systems, products and finance processes
12. Ensure appropriate controls are embedded in operational processes
Technical Accounting
13. Apply technical accounting knowledge to ensure appropriate treatment of transactions
14. Support the assessment and implementation of new accounting standards
15. Provide guidance to the business on accounting implications of new activities
Audit & Regulatory Support
16. Act as a key contact for external audit, coordinating information and responses
17. Prepare audit deliverables and support audit queries
18. Support regulatory reporting processes and ensure deadlines are met
Risk & Issue Management
19. Identify financial risks and control issues within finance processes
20. Escalate material risks and issues to the Head of Finance
21. Support remediation actions and track resolution
Team Leadership
22. Manage and develop members of the finance team
23. Ensure delivery of high-quality outputs and adherence to timelines
24. Support capability development within the team
Stakeholder Interaction
25. Build effective working relationships with stakeholders across finance and the business
26. Provide clear financial information to support operational decision-making
27. Respond to queries and provide financial insight where required
Essential Experience:
28. Minimum years PQE
29. Financial Services Experience
30. Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
31. Strong experience in financial reporting and controls
32. Good technical accounting knowledge (IFRS)
33. Experience working in a complex or regulated environment
34. Strong organisational and communication skills
