You will be leading a team of highly skilled individuals who deliver a 24/7 service across 3 CT scanners, and will need good project management skills as we embark on the replacement of 2 of these scanners in 2026.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, forward-thinking Clinical Lead for CT to join our dynamic Radiology team. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to take on a leadership role in a Trust that has been rated Good by the CQC, with a clear commitment to clinical excellence, innovation, and patient-centred care.

As CT Clinical Lead, you will be responsible for the strategic and operational delivery of our CT services, working closely with Radiologists, Radiographers, and multidisciplinary teams. This role is perfect for someone looking to combine hands-on clinical expertise with leadership and service development in a supportive and progressive environment.

To be responsible for the management and day-to day running of a designated specialised clinical service pertaining to the Trust.

To be responsible for the management and development of the specialist service area ensuring optimum use of staffing and equipment resources within the modality.

To be responsible for the professional leadership of the radiography team providing a high-quality patient focused service.

To maintain a sensitive and courteous approach to patients.

To develop and improve professional expertise via continuous professional development.

To ensure a safe working environment and maintenance of the radiographic equipment within the area.

To rotate to other clinical areas when required dependent on skills offered.

Maintain a high quality, smooth running, and cost-effective Computerised Tomography service

Ensure maintenance contracts for CT are in place and services are performed

Responsibility for the safe and efficient use of efficient use of expensive and complex technical equipment

Supervise, lead, direct and support the team of CT Radiographers and Radiography Department Assistants who provide 365/24/7 radiology services in CT

Working with Radiologists to regularly review the current developments in CT, making recommendations for changes in practice informed by NICE, The Royal College of Radiologists and College of Radiographers and other evidence-based guidelines

Take responsibility for the adequate protection of patients and staff against radiation and other occupational hazards. These will include (but not be limited to) the Ionising Radiation Regulations (2017), Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017 and any associated Trust policies, procedures and Local Rules

Ensure processes are in place and adhered to, so that each request is justified to reduce unnecessary ionising radiation exposure of patients in accordance with IR(ME)R 2017

Report all incidents using the Trust system and encourage/support other members of the team to complete incident forms and embed shared learning from incidents that occur

Report any Serious, accidental or unintended exposure to radiation to the Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) and follow the relevant Trust SOP and procedures

Conduct a wide range of CT examinations including highly specialist techniques upon a wide range of patient types.

To monitor and evaluate the CT service and implement changes to develop and improve the service

Liaise with Consultants and other Trust wide staff as required for the safe and efficient scanning of patients

Be responsible for writing, reviewing, and revising standard operating procedures, protocols and policies in conjunction with CT Lead Radiologist, Radiology Governance Lead and Deputy Imaging Services Manager

Participate in the provision of an out of hours service as required, including weekends and public holidays

Lead CT staff recruitment and retention programs and perform appraisal of staff as required

Provide leadership, training, and development for all CT Radiographers

Responsible for staff capability, absence management and disciplinary matters

Be fully conversant and ensure compliance with relevant Trust policies and compliance of statutory learning

Initiate the complaints/incidents procedure as required, following Trust policy liaising with RPS and Radiology Governance Lead

Answer and resolve telephone enquiries from hospital medical staff, GPs and other health professionals in an appropriate manner

Ensure that staff, patients and visitors are aware of safety hazards and that staff recognise their responsibility for the general and specific aspects of safety related to their duties

Play a key role in establishing, maintaining and improving the CT quality assurance program

Comply with Trust and legislative requirements for confidentiality

Maintain and develop personal and professional knowledge and standards to a high level, participating in continuous personal development, attending study days, and keeping up to date with new techniques

Identify and suggest topics for research and audit, especially within areas of special interest, and participate in departmental audit and research as required

Assist in the delivery of care to meet individual's health and wellbeing needs

Provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information

Promote best practice in health and safety and security

Promote people's equality, diversity and rights

Apply technology for measurement, monitoring and treatment
