Working Hours averaging 18.5 hours per week over a two-week rota.

1. Week 1: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (9:30am - 2:30pm)
2. Week 2: Monday, Tuesday (9:30am - 2:30pm), Saturday, Sunday (10am - 4pm)

Our Civil Enforcement Officers (CEOs) are, first and foremost, a uniformed point of contact for visitors and residents. They act as ambassadors for the council, helping with directions, answering questions about the local area, and providing parking advice. They help improve traffic management and create a safer, more pleasant environment in Cheshire West & Chester by enforcing Traffic Regulation Orders and parking restrictions both on and off street.
Key Responsibilities
1. Undertaking patrols and inspections to enforce parking offences.
2. Maintaining records using handheld devices, completing reports, and responding to service radio messages.
3. Reporting offences related to taxi/hire car licences, defects in signs, lines, and street furniture.
4. Advising the public on parking enquiries and matters, providing excellent customer care.
5. Inspecting pay and display machines, verifying their functionality, and reporting faults.
6. Issuing Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) for parking violations.
Candidate Requirements
1. Hold a UK driving licence for category C (car).
2. Be friendly, polite, and supportive to colleagues and customers.
3. Be physically fit, able to walk up to 10 miles per day carrying approximately 8lb/4kg, and work in all weather conditions.
4. Be capable of accurately recording information using various IT equipment.
5. Deal politely with a wide range of people, including potentially confrontational members of the public.
6. Follow procedures and guidelines, establish facts, and take appropriate action.
7. Be comfortable using equipment such as handheld computers, radios, mobile phones, body-worn cameras, and ANPR cameras.
