Job summary
We are seeking a Senior Maternity Support Worker for a 12 month secondment/fixed term full time per week, to work alongside our Practice Development Midwife with focus on maternity support workers (MSW) /maternity care assistants (MCA).
This exciting role will provide support with training, development and clinical skills for our MSW/MCA workforce to meet the requirements of the Health Education England MSW National Framework. The post may also involve assisting with MSWs in Community settings.
Please note applicants will need to have evidence of Foundation Degree Health and Social Care or Diploma of Higher Education (or completion of year 1 and year 2 pre-registration midwifery programme).

Main duties of the job
o Working alongside Practice Development Midwife with Focus on MSWs to support the integration of the HEE (2016) MSW Framework and the associated upskilling of the workforce in an educational and clinical capacity.
o Demonstrate understanding of the importance of working in partnership with women and their families respecting their wishes and forming positive Employs strategies to promote personalised, informed decision-making when planning, implementing, and evaluating care activities, using information to develop plans of care that meet the individualised needs of the woman and her Understand the Senior MSW's scope of practice (RCM, 2016) and the importance of the role within the national framework to enable working within limits of own competence and authority, escalating to the MDT to inform care planning in line with national and local guidance to avoid Understands own responsibility when forming a judgement of an individual's health or social care needs, using factual and theoretical knowledge as a basis for decision making andescalating where appropriate.

Essential
1. GCSE Maths Grades A-C, Levels 4-9, Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent
2. GCSE English Grades A-C, Levels 4-9, Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent
3. Foundation Degree Health and Social Care or Diploma of Higher Education (completion of year 1 and year 2 pre-registration midwifery programme)
4. Commit to undertake in-house training
5. Care Certificate (or willing to work towards and complete within 3 months of appointment)

6. NVQ Level 3 in Health care or equivalent experience or 5 GCSE, 2 A levels

7. Previous experience of working with members of the public
8. Significant clinical experience within health and social care settings relevant to role
