Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Assistant to join the UK Accounting team of a large international business based in South Birmingham. This is a permanent role offering hybrid working, combining the stability of a global organisation with flexibility and development opportunities.
The role will focus on high-volume cashbook and bank reconciliations, while also providing cover for Assistant Management Accountants and contributing to wider finance operations.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a purchase ledger, sales ledger, or general accounts assistant background who is looking to build their experience within a management accounting environment. Study support is available for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:
* Perform high-volume cashbook and bank reconciliations accurately and efficiently.
* Post transactions into the cashbook and maintain thorough backup documentation.
* Provide cover for Assistant Management Accountants, including:
o Processing one-off manual payments via banking software.
o Supporting bank payment administration.
* Maintain and update the daily reconciliation tracker.
* Conduct daily bank account downloads and ensure accurate reconciliation and posting.
* Provide ad hoc support to the broader Accounting team as needed.

Candidate Profile:
Essential:
* Experience in a finance team, ideally within purchase ledger, sales ledger, or accounts assistant roles.
* Strong understanding of bank reconciliations and cashbook processing.
* Excellent organisation, communication, and time management skills.
* Intermediate Excel skills (including formulas, VLOOKUPs, and pivot tables).
Desirable:
* Experience in a management accounting environment.
* Familiarity with accounting or banking software (e.g., Sage, Oracle, SAP).
* Desire to progress professionally - study support is provided.
