Science Teacher
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
* Plan and deliver engaging science lessons (Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics) appropriate to students’ age and ability
* Teach in accordance with the national curriculum and school schemes of work
* Use a variety of teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners
* Set clear learning objectives and communicate expectations effectively
* Encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and safe practical investigation
Assessment and Progress
* Assess, record, and report on student progress accurately and regularly
* Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student improvement
* Use assessment data to inform planning and intervention
* Prepare students for internal and external examinations
Classroom Management
* Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment
* Manage classroom behavior in line with school policies
* Ensure health and safety procedures are followed, particularly during practical work
Professional Responsibilities
* Participate in departmental planning and meetings
* Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment activities
* Engage in continuous professional development
* Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and colleagues
* Support whole-school initiatives and events
Safeguarding
* Promote the welfare and safeguarding of all students
* Adhere to school safeguarding policies and procedures
Person Specification
Essential
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
* Degree in a science-related subject
* Strong subject knowledge and passion for science education
* Ability to motivate and engage secondary-age students
* Good communication and organizational skills
Desirable
* Experience teaching science at KS3 and KS4 (KS5 an advantage)
* Experience with practical laboratory work
* Willingness to contribute to extracurricular science activities

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
