Not essential for previous experience in cancer. Band 6-7 progression will be considered.
This successful post holder will support and maintain the work of the Aseptic Service section of pharmacy and provide a specialist clinical pharmacy service to all cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy within the Trust.
The chemotherapy production units at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust West provides around 2000 chemotherapy doses to patients at Worthing and St Richard's Hospitals per month. We have 2 busy units, led by a great pharmacy team who provide a safe, efficient and effective service to Cancer Services and other teams within the Trust
Our team comprises of Pharmacists, technicians, assistants and a senior manufacturing technician apprentice providing a chemotherapy, monoclonal antibody and immunotherapy within Worthing and Chichester.
This is an exhilarating phase for our cancer pharmacy service, as we aspire to expand our pharmacy prescribing team and provide even more patient-facing services. As part of this role, you will play a crucial role in our oncology service, collaborating closely with medical and nursing teams.

The successful candidate must hold a Master of Pharmacy degree or equivalent and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

Job responsibilities
Responsible for the provision of a pharmacy cancer service to the staff of UHSussex West pharmacy department and cancer services.
Specific responsibilities include:
1. To undertake specific duties agreed with the Lead Pharmacist Cancer Services in line with the grade and scope of the post.
2. During periods of absence of the Lead Pharmacist, to deputise as the Accountable and Responsible Pharmacist for all work carried out under section 10 of the Medicines Act within the Pharmacy Aseptic Unit.
3. To assist the Lead Pharmacist in responding appropriately to external regional QC inspections, detailing actions undertaken to comply with their recommendations; in conjunction with the Technician Team Leader Aseptic Services.
4. To participate in consultant wards rounds, multi-disciplinary team meetings and case conferences as and when necessary in absence of the Lead Pharmacist Cancer Services.
5. To help develop and deliver a safe, efficient and effective pharmaceutical aseptic service to the cancer services directorate. This includes ensuring that facilities meet the standards assessed by external audits under the direction of EL(97)52 by the Department of Health.
