Job Description
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the General Manager Business Excellence is a pivotal Executive Leadership Team role-charged with actively shaping how the City of Melbourne operates, performs, and evolves.
This role is responsible for driving strategic transformation, financial sustainability, and operational excellence across the organisation. You will oversee a complex and high-impact portfolio spanning finance, enterprise technology, procurement, and planning, ensuring aligned strategies, robust governance, and data-led decision making.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Driving enterprise-wide operational excellence, embedding a culture of performance, accountability and continuous improvement
2. Reimagining how the organisation operates, leading transformation across finance, technology, procurement and business planning
3. Owning the financial future of the organisation, setting strategy, strengthening governance and unlocking value
4. Harnessing data and insights to influence decision-making at the highest levels
5. Shaping and executing major investment strategies, including complex commercial opportunities and strategic initiatives
With oversight of a significant and complex portfolio-including ~$124M in expenditure, ~$321M in revenue and substantial asset holdings, this role sits at the centre of how the City delivers for its community, now and into the future.
