Job overview

We are seeking Two full-time, Band 8a Senior Clinicians, in the capacity of a Counselling or clinical psychologist,

This is to be a part of a dynamic and supportive team across Redbridge CAMHS. We have a well established, secure and psychologically safe team, who are passionate providing high quality and effective care to our children and young people.

The role required at least two years’ experience in delivering specialist mental health therapeutic interventions in a CAMHS (or similar child and adolescent mental health) setting.

The service operates a 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday service. We provide access (through the SPA), assessment and evidence based treatment, to a growing population of 0–18-year-olds, across the London Borough of Redbridge We work as a fully integrated MDT working alongside and in collaboration other agencies such as the Primary care Nurses, MHSTs, Education, social care, to name a few.

The care we deliver is in line with the i-Thrive framework, where we provide the Getting More help, and System Support and Risk management aspects.

Main duties of the job

This post involves assessing and treating children and young people who present with moderate to severe mental health difficulties in a community CAMHS setting. The successful candidate will work with a MDT to formulate holistic care plans.

The post holder will receive regular clinical supervision as well as to provide clinical supervision to other team members.

They will be expected to attend, participate and support the MDT meetings as well as network partnership meetings.

They will have a commitment to collaborative working and actively supporting and liaising with other health and social care professionals and partnership agencies as we promote a trauma informed and systemic model of practice.

They will be expected to support the team to manage the caseloads, by providing oversight, clinical support and expert guidance to ensure safe and effective care, supporting the team in maintaining their key performance indicators.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High-Cost Area Supplement

This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,714 and a maximum payment of £5,941) (pro rata for part time staff).

Essential criteria

1. Successful completion of a post-graduate training in psychological practice ( art psychotherapist, psychologist, family therapist, child and adolescent psychotherapist)
2. To be eligible for registration as a full member of the appropriate professional body ( HCPC, BACP, UKCP, AFT, ACP)

Experience

Essential criteria

3. Contributing to MDT discussions and case formulation
4. Extensive experience of working with difficult, disturbed or challenging children/young people requiring skilled and complex interventions
5. Extensive experience of working with children and adolescents with co-morbid difficulties and special needs. ( combination of organic and emotional deficits, such as autistic spectrum disorders and trauma)
6. Experience of using observation (eg. In school contexts) to contribute to assessments of children
7. experience of specialist assessments

Skills

Essential criteria

8. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively highly complex and sensitive matters to patients, which give rise to psychological distress
9. Highly developed ability to integrate complex clinical information into a coherent formulation
