Progress Teachers are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join a welcoming primary school in Birmingham. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils across EYFS, KS1, and KS2 who present with a range of social, emotional, and behavioural needs (SEMH/SEND). You’ll play a key role in helping pupils regulate emotions, engage positively in learning, and thrive within a nurturing school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide targeted 1:1 and small group interventions to support pupils with behavioural and emotional needs.
* Implement and model positive behaviour management strategies across the classroom and playground.
* Support pupils in developing social skills, self-regulation, and resilience through structured sessions and daily routines.
* Monitor and track pupil progress, feeding back to class teachers, SENCO, and parents/carers.
* Work closely with school staff to ensure consistent approaches to managing behaviour and supporting emotional wellbeing.
* Help create and maintain a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment, using de-escalation and restorative practices when needed.
* Contribute to wider pastoral work and support transitions, including reintegration into class routines after incidents or time out.
Requirements:
* Experience working with primary-aged children displaying challenging or complex behaviours.
* Strong knowledge of positive reinforcement, restorative approaches, and emotion coaching.
* Calm, patient, and resilient approach with excellent communication skills.
* Experience within a mainstream primary, SEN, or alternative provision setting is highly desirable.
* Understanding of trauma-informed practice and therapeutic behaviour strategies.
* DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
* Two satisfactory professional references.
