Overview
We are looking for a beauty-loving Lead Packaging Designer to join the Packaging Design team on a maternity cover contract. We want someone with a passion for packaging and strong problem-solving skills to lead the creation of innovative designs across all our brands. The Brand is at the heart of all designs, and you will deliver packaging that resonates with consumers, working closely with the Product team to bring products to life on shelf and online.
The role is fast-paced, ever-changing and requires a confident, resilient, and self-sufficient team member. You will be working to tight deadlines with a high level of design quality and a keen eye for detail.
What You’ll Do
* Work with the Product team to manage the creation of a set of product packaging design guidelines for each Revolution brand, in line with the Creative Director’s guidance.
* Collaborate with the Product team to develop new product ideas and designs.
* Lead the creation of new product packaging design concepts as briefed by the Product team.
* Ensure branding consistency across all products and brands according to brand guidelines; produce artwork with consistent pack design, layout, copy and brief.
* Design consumer-led commercial products and manage the Packaging Design team to deliver designs to brief, within agreed guidelines and timescales.
* Oversee the full 360 packaging timeline from ideation to artwork deadlines and critical paths.
* Create digital renders and mock-up samples for customer presentations as required.
* Manage workload and stakeholder expectations according to project priorities.
* Create, design, proof, edit, amend and update artwork across all brands as necessary.
* Liaise with printers/factories to ensure deadlines are met and print quality is high; assist the Packaging team with print issue resolution.
* Undertake ad hoc projects to meet business needs.
* Support the development of the Packaging Design team to ensure individual development needs are met and projects are executed on time.
* Keep up to date with current trends and forecasts to inform future designs and encourage creative, innovative packaging.
* Adapt your style to different brands while keeping designs commercial for the consumer.
* Manage relationships with suppliers and oversee sampling and final artwork processes with them.
* Maintain a strong focus on print quality and add detail to packaging designs to make products stand out; knowledge of finishes and print techniques to recommend impactful packaging.
* Have knowledge of sustainability and how to improve packaging within a fast-paced beauty brand.
* Collaborate with the Brand Design team and assist with PR packaging.

* Solid foundation across packaging technologies with the ability to engage and guide technical topics with Packaging Artworkers and printers/suppliers.
* Excellent communication skills to translate feedback into actionable briefs and manage changes as required.
* High level of proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign; PowerPoint & Excel proficient.
* Experience managing team members and working in the beauty industry.
* Keen eye for detail; exceptionally organized and adaptable with the ability to multitask.
* Confident with leadership qualities and a self-driven, solution-based mindset.
* Team player who can motivate the Packaging Design Team and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
