Are you an experienced Registrar or looking for a new career in registration? West Berkshire Council is seeking a Deputy Superintendent Registrar to join our Registration Service, working alongside the Registration Manager and the Registration team to deliver an exceptional registration service to our local community. This is a full‑time opportunity, Monday to Friday with additional weekend work when required.


About The Role

* Support the Registration Manager in the day‑to‑day operation of the Registration Service.
* Ensure compliance with legal requirements and statutory obligations.
* Conduct registrations of births, deaths, and marriages, ensuring accurate record‑keeping and documentation.
* Issue certificates and provide information and advice to customers.
* Handle enquiries and resolve any issues that may arise.
* Conduct marriage, civil partnership, and citizenship ceremonies.
* Deputise for the Registration Manager as required.


About You

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and attributes:

* Experience working as a Registrar, with a thorough understanding of registration processes and legislation.
* Knowledge of registration legislation and procedures.
* Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to handle enquiries and resolve issues effectively.
* Strong organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work to deadlines.
* Attention to detail and accuracy in record‑keeping and documentation.
* Professional and approachable manner, with effective communication skills.
