Job Description:
Exciting opportunity with our client Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council who are currently seeking a temporary Verification Assistant to join their team.
This role is based in Coleraine, on a temporary basis, Monday - Friday, 37hrs per week.
Main Purpose of Job:
* Provide comprehensive financial monitoring and support to the PEACE IV Co-Ordinator in implementing, maintaining, and delivering financial control systems for the PEACE IV Programme.
* Deliver up-to-date financial information for Partnership, Steering Committee, and Working Groups as needed.
* Ensure compliance with EU, SEUPB, and Council financial procedures.
* Support and oversee procurement by Council-Led Programme and External Contractors.
* Verify all expenditure within the Peace IV Programme.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Prepare and provide financial and management information relating to administration and programme activity for Council, EU, SEUPB, and audit bodies.
* Design and maintain a computerized accounting system for transaction recording and reporting on the PEACE IV Programme.
* Update transactions, maintain databases (including EU Grants database), and generate reports on the Programme.
* Advise staff and contractors on record-keeping to meet audit requirements.
* Verify, prepare, and process claims from beneficiaries and members, ensuring compliance with SEUPB rules and audit standards.
* Prepare monthly administration claims to SEUPB and monitor the budget for fund availability.
* Respond to audit and programme queries, retain and archive records for inspection.
* Assist in developing and monitoring financial policies and procedures.
* Produce financial reports, statements, and projections, oversee budget management, and monitor spend and variances.
* Maintain the asset register for all capitalized items.
* Familiarize with all aspects of the PEACE IV Programme, including financial and audit requirements.
* Undertake additional duties as assigned by the manager.
Applicants must have:
* A third-level qualification in Business or Finance or related field.
And
Demonstrate at least one year of experience in:
* Claims processing, including vouching and verification of expenditure.
* Data analysis, interpretation, and reporting.
* Project monitoring.
Or, alternatively, candidates with three years of relevant experience without formal qualifications will be considered.
Additional requirements include:
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
And
* Knowledge and understanding of Verification procedures.
