Electrical Engineer (Senior, Principal, Senior Principal or Experienced) - Hydropower (Energy)
Stantec, Warrington, England, United Kingdom
The Opportunity
Stantec is working on some of the world’s largest, complex, and most exciting hydropower projects. With our ongoing success we are rapidly growing and looking to hire a Principal Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team, responsible for designing and developing cutting‑edge hydropower and pumped‑storage solutions across the UK.
You will play a key role in all aspects of hydropower projects – from feasibility studies and concept design to construction and commissioning. Your responsibilities include leading the electrical engineering design of hydropower projects, covering generators, control and instrumentation systems, protection, substations, and transmission lines. You will perform design, model, and analyse electrical and electronic systems to ensure project feasibility and compliance with industry standards. As a Principal you will also take line‑management responsibility for select team members, support business growth, and be accountable for project deliverables.
We work closely with our growing transmission and distribution business, offering opportunities to engage in significant grid‑upgrade projects such as new transmission lines and substations. You will provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and collaborate with civil, mechanical, and other engineering disciplines to produce fully integrated project designs.
