Overview
We're currently seeking a skilled and motivated nursing support professional to assist in our Dermatology, ENT, and Vasectomy clinics. This role offers the opportunity to work across both NHS and private settings, supporting our clinical teams in delivering high-quality care. The role is offered on a Flexible Worker Contract on an ad hoc basis, depending on service demand. Salary is competitive and based on experience and qualifications.
Main duties

Key Responsibilities
* Chaperone and assist during examinations and minor procedures
* Support ENT GP with Extended Roles (GPwERs) in outpatient clinics, ensuring equipment is sterilised and infection control protocols are followed
* Monitor and assist in managing clinic stock levels
* Maintain cleanliness and readiness of consulting and treatment rooms
* Report faults or non-compliance promptly
* Uphold high standards of patient care in line with operational policies and national guidelines
* Enhance service user satisfaction through excellent customer service
* Advocate for patient wellbeing and continuously seek ways to improve care delivery

Job description and responsibilities
* Provision of support and assistance with Dermatology and Vasectomy minor surgery procedures and ENT clinics
* Provision of general nursing duties, including dressings, equipment availability, and room setup/cleanup
* Maintenance of information to patients
* Monitoring of medical supplies stock and coordinating with Stock Nurse on stock requirements and out-of-date stock
* Engage with carers/family to involve them in patient care
* Assist clinical staff for prompt follow-up as needed (e.g., infection or post-operative complications)
* Record high-quality notes into the electronic patient record system in a timely manner
* Liaise with Sentinel Administration Team to arrange follow-up appointments, actions, or discharge
* Monitor and report medical equipment faults; liaise with maintenance services; inform the Operations Manager of issues
* Undertake cleaning and sterilisation of ENT equipment (nasendoscope) per national decontamination processes
* Prepare clinical rooms with functioning equipment and stock; ensure cleanliness and restock for following clinics
* Ensure infection control procedures are followed; report issues to Infection Control Lead Nurse and Senior Management Team
* Attend Corporate, Clinical Governance and other meetings as required
* Work safely and in accordance with legislative requirements and Sentinel policies
* Attend training and complete mandatory e-learning as required
* Maintain professional registrations as required
* Report untoward incidents and contribute to audits and quality monitoring
* Use resources efficiently and comply with procedures
* Maintain awareness of health and safety regulations and report deficiencies
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge and competence in clinical equipment; keep training records
* Communicate effectively with management, admin, nursing, and multidisciplinary teams
* Adhere to policies and challenge where necessary; work calmly and develop a team approach
* Display a positive, friendly, and approachable manner
Person Specification
Experience (Essential): possess clinical skills relevant to area of practice; experience in nursing support in minor surgery and outpatient clinics; ability to handle sensitive information; knowledge of Information Governance and Caldicott Principles; understanding of Clinical Governance; experience using EMIS and S1; IT competent with MS packages; familiarity with Teams/Zoom.
Desirable: experience disinfecting ENT equipment; recent CPD; audits and research.
Qualifications (Essential): good standard of education including English and Maths GCSE grade 4 or above; NMC Registered Nurse or Health Care Assistant with relevant experience; Diploma in healthcare-related subject or equivalent. Desirable: post-registration clinical course or equivalent; relevant degree or NVQ; computer literacy (ECDL).
Aptitude and abilities (Essential): strong communication, time management, organizational skills; ability to work autonomously and as part of a team; sound judgement; ability to convey clinical information; adaptable and flexible; trustworthy; professional conduct; calm and collaborative; positive demeanor.
Desirable: enthusiasm for the specialty; ability to handle challenging questions.
