Overview
SSQ is partnering with a leading insurance company to recruit a Trainee Company Secretary. This is an opportunity to join a busy Company Secretarial team, supporting the governance framework of an international insurance group. This role is ideal for a motivated individual looking to build a career while studying for professional qualifications.
Responsibilities
* Prepare agendas, minutes, action logs, forward planners, and meeting packs, ensuring timely follow-up on actions
* Assist with statutory filings and corporate documentation for Companies House and overseas registries
* Maintain statutory registers, corporate structure charts, and governance records across the group
* Support the drafting of board and committee materials, including templates and governance updates
* Help coordinate responses to KYC requests, regulatory queries, and banking authorities
* Provide administrative support for group returns and reporting requirements
* Contribute to governance projects, policy development, and continuous improvement initiatives
* Research legislative, regulatory, and best practice developments and brief the team accordingly
* Assist with the preparation for management committee meetings, initially supported by senior colleagues
Candidate Requirements
* Degree-level education with prior company secretarial experience
* Commitment to completing the CGI (ICSA) qualification (if not already done)
* Strong communication skills and attention to detail
* Confident working with stakeholders at all levels
* Organised and a collaborative team player
