About The Role
The App product owner is responsible for maximising the value of the company's iOS and Android mobile apps. This role owns the mobile app product vision, roadmap and backlog, ensuring the app delivers a fast, reliable, and engaging customer experience while meeting commercial objectives. Working in partnership with lead product management, UX, digital analytics, design, and cross-functional teams to develop, manage, and measure product enhancements that support business strategy and growth.
Accountabilities
Product Strategy & Vision
* Define and own the mobile app product vision aligned to broader digital and commercial strategy
* Create and maintain a clear, prioritised roadmap for the app
* Identify opportunities where mobile app capabilities outperform mobile web
Backlog Ownership & Delivery
* Own and prioritise the mobile app backlog, including features, tech debt, performance, and platform upgrades
* Write clear user stories and acceptance criteria tailored to hybrid app constraints
* Make informed trade-offs between speed, quality, and scope
Customer Experience & Performance
* Champion mobile app UX, performance, and reliability
* Use analytics, crash reporting, and performance tooling (e.g. New Relic, Firebase, Kibana) to guide decisions
* Continuously optimise key user journeys (onboarding, browse, checkout, account)
Stakeholder Management
* Act as the primary mobile app contact for business, marketing, customer service, and technology teams
* Align stakeholders on priorities, timelines, and expected outcomes
* Clearly communicate progress, risks, and dependencies
Technical Collaboration
* Work closely with developers to understand platform capabilities and limitations
* Partner with architecture and platform teams on:
* OS upgrades
* Plugin strategy
* App store compliance
* Performance and security improvements
Release & Lifecycle Management
* Plan and coordinate regular app releases across iOS and Android
* Own app store content, release notes, and versioning strategy
Monitor post-release performance and customer feedback
About You
* Experience in product ownership
* Ability to collaborate with several stakeholders to develop an agreed and prioritised roadmap based on transparent scoring combining commercial benefits/ UX and strategic relevance
* Ability to deliver agreed developments
* Demonstrated ability to work with company leadership and executives to effectively define the product strategy and roadmap
* Ability to assess market segments, products, vendors, and complex technologies for fit against financial targets, strategic initiatives, and product goals
* Advanced understanding of online user experience, online marketing principles and strategy
* Experience implementation testing strategies across digital platforms (web, mobile)
* Educated to degree level or equivalent business-related qualifications
* Excellent analytical skills
* Ability to break down complex problems into small deliverable steps
* Very good communication skills
* Able to commute to Bradford City Centre
