The Head of Colleague Experience is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of our People Strategy to enhance the overall experience of colleagues in the City of Edinburgh. Directly reporting to the Service Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development, you will lead multiple teams of HR professionals.
This newly created role is critical to driving the Council’s commitment to creating a workplace culture where all of our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work. You will harness the benefits of a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experiences and backgrounds.
A key success for this role is being able to demonstrate that our colleagues have the tools to do their jobs and that, through partnering with senior leaders, our overall business objectives align with our employee experience strategy.
The area is constantly evolving, so we seek someone who is up-to-date with the latest best practices and thinking, and who can demonstrate proven results in an innovative, modern way. You will have experience leading on leadership learning and organisational development in a large, complex organisation, as well as providing expertise on talent and resourcing to improve retention and colleague experience.
Responsibilities

* Develop and implement new approaches, innovative solutions, complex proposals and policy initiatives.
* Drive specific ideas, initiatives and programmes to improve organisational culture.
* Lead talent attraction and resourcing to drive improvements in retention and colleague experience.
* Lead the development and implementation of learning and leadership interventions and activities to enhance organisational capability.
* Coaching skills and the ability to develop continuous professional development for self and others.
* Make the links needed across the organisation, ensuring that thinking is one organisation.
* Build and maintain trustful relationships, demonstrating a collaborative approach.
* Provide advice, recommendations and proposals to influential stakeholders.
Qualifications and Training
* Degree qualification (or equivalent experience) with comprehensive knowledge and experience of managing HR strategy and disciplines within a complex organisation.
* CIPD Chartered professional membership or equivalent.
* Evidence of continuous professional development.
