Exciting opportunity within our Major Infrastructure Team, working on multi-billion pound projects!
The Anglian Water Strategic Asset Management Sponsorship team is responsible for delivering a major projects portfolio of circa £1bn in AMP8. The Governance & Assurance function oversees portfolio management, governance, and assurance for these key infrastructure projects.
We are seeking an experienced Governance & Assurance Manager to lead and enhance our governance and assurance frameworks for major projects and programmes. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape and deliver Anglian Water's most ambitious capital projects to date.
The successful candidate will oversee the governance and assurance functions, ensuring robust processes are in place, and will collaborate with senior stakeholders both internally and externally.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop, implement, and maintain governance frameworks;
o Responsible for developing, securing approval, and maintaining governance frameworks across the major projects portfolio.
o Support business integrity and compliance with these frameworks.
2. Lead assurance activities, including internal audits, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance reviews;
o Participate in assurance and audit cycles, working with internal and external parties.
o Develop project Integrated Assurance and Approvals Plans (IAAPs) and ensure findings from 2nd and 3rd Line of Defence reviews are addressed.
3. Monitor and report on governance and assurance performance, identifying areas for improvement;
o Assess the effectiveness of IAAPs and adapt as necessary.
o Collaborate with internal teams and regulators to improve governance standards.
o Promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Candidate Requirements
* Degree level education with relevant technical qualification or equivalent experience
* Membership of a professional body (e.g., ICE, APM)
* Significant experience in major project governance and assurance
* Experience in providing accurate reporting and creating IAAPs
* Audit experience of major projects (desirable)
* Expertise in governance, risk assessments, gateway reviews for large portfolios
* Strong interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement and influence
