Setting Out Engineer - Civil Engineering Location: South Lanarkshire Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 Additional Benefits We are currently recruiting for an experienced Setting Out Engineer to join a well-established civil engineering contractor on a permanent basis. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in either residential groundworks or civil engineering projects and be eager to contribute to the successful delivery of a variety of high-profile infrastructure projects. The Role: As a Setting Out Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered accurately and to specification by marking out reference points, setting up control lines, and ensuring correct alignment of structures on-site. Your work will be crucial to ensuring that construction projects in the civil engineering and groundworks sectors are executed to the highest standard. Key Responsibilities: Setting Out: Accurately set out construction lines, levels, and reference points in accordance with the project plans and specifications. Site Surveying: Conduct surveys and measurements to ensure accurate positioning of structures, roads, drainage, and other civil engineering elements. Site Management Support: Work closely with site managers and contractors to ensure work is progressing according to plans, specifications, and deadlines. Technical Drawing Interpretation: Interpret and use technical drawings and plans for setting out activities. Quality Control & Compliance: Ensure all works are completed in line with regulatory standards and project specifications. Health & Safety: Support the implementation of health and safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment for all site personnel. Required Skills & Experience: Minimum 5 years' experience as a Setting Out Engineer, with expertise in either residential groundworks or civil engineering projects. Proven experience in setting out for large-scale construction projects, including roads, drainage, utilities, and groundworks. Strong technical knowledge of engineering principles and construction methods. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Familiarity with setting out instruments such as Total Stations (e.g., Leica, Trimble), GPS systems, AutoCAD, for accurate surveying and alignment. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering projects to the highest quality standards. Health and safety awareness in a site-based role. A valid driving license and willingness to travel between sites. Why This Role?
