Role
We are seeking a Manager to lead our Economic Crime Unit (ECU), part of the National Environmental Crime Unit (NECU). The successful candidate will lead a specialist team dedicated to removing the financial benefit from criminals. As ECU Manager you will be the strategic lead for financial investigations to ensure we fulfil our obligations under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA). You will be proactive with a strong focus on continually improving the way we work.
Responsibilities
* Lead two Team Leaders (Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigation Team) and a Senior Financial Intelligence Officer.
* Provide strong leadership, motivate and develop the team, and manage performance and work delivery.
* Collaborate with internal teams (Investigatory Teams, Intelligence & Partnerships, Legal) and external partners (Police, National Crime Agency, HMRC).
* Influence at senior levels to ensure EA priorities are supported and recognised by other enforcement agencies.
* Support the wider organisation in improving how we work and increasing understanding of POCA; share lessons learnt and input into changes to technical documentation; advise enforcement officers across the country.
* Contribute to the management of the ECU and the wider organisation to continually improve practices related to POCA.
Team
The Economic Crime Unit comprises two teams – the Asset Denial Team and the Money Laundering Investigations Team. Teams include Financial Investigators, Financial Intelligence Officers and Crime Analysts. The ECU is a nationally dispersed team working with enforcement staff and partners across the country, handling serious and complex criminality involving organised crime networks.
Experience / Skills Required
* Exceptional leadership skills, ideally with experience in leading a dispersed team.
* Good understanding of financial investigations and the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).
* Experience in: working in the law enforcement sector and understanding the National Intelligence Model; communicating effectively (feedback, performance management, stakeholder relationships); working under pressure and prioritising a varied workload; identifying areas for improvement and leading changes to working practices; developing and enhancing the capability of a team and individuals.

* This is a hybrid role; you’ll work flexibly from home and your nearest office. Travel across the country for meetings and operational duties may be required. Incident response is a central part of our work; you may have an incident role or provide business continuity support during incidents, which may attract additional payment. Training and workplace adjustments will be available.
