Job Overview
We are seeking a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our Adult Community Speech and Language Therapist Team. The role offers progression from Band 6 to Band 7.

This is a part‑time post of 37.5 hours per week, working within mental health wards across Dorset. Flexible working arrangements are welcomed, provided service needs are met.
Key Responsibilities
* Hold a caseload of complex cases, conduct independent assessment and management of service users, incorporating pharmacological considerations where appropriate, and make complex clinical decisions regarding service user management and clinical outcomes.
* Provide specialist SLT input to mental health wards across Dorset and contribute to service development.
* Manage leadership aspects by providing supervision and education to the MDT and SLTs within the Adult Community SLT service.
* Ensure the delivery of high‑quality, person‑centred services with a focus on integrated care, consistently considering safety, privacy and dignity.
* Provide day‑to‑day leadership within the clinical team and other multidisciplinary staff.
* Act as a champion for clinical standards and continuous improvement in the service‑user experience.
* Ensure the delivery of up‑to‑date, evidence‑based practice.
* Contribute to the planning and design of services in line with Trust, local and government objectives.
Requirements
* Current or eligible for a National Health Service (NHS) Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service may present a valid DBS certificate instead of obtaining a new check.
* Evidence of clinical experience managing complex cases in speech and language therapy, including pharmacological considerations.
* Strong leadership and supervisory skills within a multidisciplinary team.
* Commitment to providing person‑centred, evidence‑based care.
* Eligibility to work in the UK without requiring current Skilled Worker sponsorship. Candidates needing sponsorship are ineligible for this position.
