The Major Projects Planner is responsible for update & review of project plans within a portfolio for the £2.3bn Investment Plan of SP Transmission Major Projects targeted at supporting the UK to reach Net Zero, and reporting on the month-to-month movement of defined project KPIs for the portfolio, using specialist Planning Software and established IT Software tools.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Develop & evolve Transmission major project plans through the Delivery lifecycle by interfacing with relevant business experts, obtaining the task detail required to provide adequate project scheduling information - allowing project performance to be monitored against agreed project control measures (KPIs).
* Update project plans at a pre-determined frequency (usually monthly), obtaining the relevant inputs through collaboration with other Project Team Members.
* Produce portfolio level monthly reports based upon the most up-to-date Project Plan KPIs to inform & assist the portfolio level management decision making process - informing of project performance.
* Analyse internal departmental schedules & external contractor project plans as required; ensuring and advising the Project Team of their suitability and any actions required to meet the overall project plan control & schedule targets.
* Attend internal and external meetings as required, providing planning advice, reports, KPIs and programme views to assist Project Team decision making.
* Comply with the relevant Quality Management System and support any process improvement initiatives.
* Deliver any development actions as defined in PDP.
What You’ll Bring
* HNC in Engineering/Mathematical discipline or previous experience in scheduling/programming/ planning projects and a portfolio of works.
* Knowledge of scheduling using industry standard software such as Primavera and MS Project.
* Proven ability to work in a team environment.
* Good spoken & written communication skills.
* Experienced in report writing.
* Experienced in the use of MS Office tools: Excel, Word, Access, etc.
* Appreciation of quality assurance processes.
