The SSNA team in the SDA is currently looking for an electronics or software engineer to join them as a Vehicle Control System Technical Lead. You will be working in a multidisciplinary team and will be in charge of the remote steering and diving control system.

The role will be direct liaison and involvement with aspects of the Control and Instrumentation (C&I) design solutions. Working side-by-side with BAE Systems and SDA personnel the role will be part of a team focused on C&I. The role will also provide access to systems, components and tools that can be considered state of the art, providing the UK maritime with the best possible C&I solutions.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. Key Aspects.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
* Manage the delivery of specific C&I and software related tasks specific to the design of systems, the human machine interface and aspects of the system engineering life cycle (for example configuration management, requirements analysis, V&V, etc).
* Provide advice and/or input to technical working groups and joint/collaborative design activities feeding back issues and aspects of risk.
* Take ownership and manage specific C&I requirements through the life cycle from concept to realisation, specifically evaluating and feeding back success, issues and risk.
* Evaluate the C&I governance for the scope allocated and the strength of the resulting assurance evidence, making sure at all times that the policies, methods and outputs provide demonstrable evidence that the scope maintains a safe and secure trajectory in design.
* Take the lead on the establishment of the allocated system requirements at each life cycle phase/stage, providing checks and evaluations with the aim of developing a complete and correct set of C&I system requirements.
* Act as the SDA intelligent customer for the allocated scope, working with the various supply chain organisations to make sure that the design is being implemented efficiently and with sufficient confidence in the documentation and other evidence.

To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that youmeet the following Criteria:
* Experience of providing technical advice and leading the delivery of successful engineering outcomes.
* Wide ranging depth and breadth of technical experience in control and instrumentation with knowledge and application of Systems Engineering approaches.
* Significant experience in the design and integration of programmable elements (software and/or hardware) in complex systems.
* Demonstrable experience delivering complex control and instrumentation systems in a highly regulated environment.
* Being able to write coherent, quality, succinct documents and reports as the primary means of providing feedback.
Qualifications
Hold a Level 4 (e.g.,HNC or higher) qualification in an electronic, electrical or software engineering discipline.

Memberships
Member of a relevant Professional Engineering / Science Institute or equivalent body.
