The role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our South Glasgow Community Paediatric Occupational Therapy Team, which is part of the wider GGC Specialist Childrens Services. Within Specialist Childrens Services, Occupational Therapy is an integrated and valued part of the multidisciplinary team.
The role will involve providing high quality Occupational Therapy services to Children and Young People aged between 0-18 years old. You will work with children who have varying abilities, needs and conditions: neurodevelopmental disorder, neurodisability and physical disability. The post will involve completing Occupational Therapy assessments, goal setting, evidenced based interventions and reviews to support participation in everyday activities.
While you will be based within The New Gorbals Health & Care Centre, the support provided to children may take place within their homes, nursery and school. You must be able to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills when working with children, young people and their families. Additionally, you will be expected to build working relationships with multidisciplinary team colleagues, local schools and nurseries.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated team player with relevant clinical experience which can transfer to working within a busy paediatric Occupational Therapy service. We are looking for individuals who are organised, motivated and enthusiastic to be part of a developing service. You are required to be HCPC registered and have PVG scheme membership.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
1. The successful candidate will become part of the well-established and highly innovative community based team in the South of Glasgow, please note this position also covers East Renfrewshire. Due to the large demographic area we offer our services to, it is essential that the successful candidate has a UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle for work.

Key responsibilities:
Patient Care
Manage and deliver paediatric OT care programmes; coordinate with other disciplines.
Work with education staff to achieve therapeutic and educational targets.
Provide OT services in clinics, homes, nurseries, and schools.
Manage clinical risk, refer appropriately, and follow national guidelines and professional standards.
Planning & Organisation
Prioritise and manage caseload, including delegated duties.
Ensure quality standards, monitor outcomes, and act as deputy for Team Lead when required.
Attend mandatory training and follow local procedures.
Service Development
Propose and implement improvements in OT service efficiency and patient care.
Support strategic and operational service development and deliver training sessions.
Information & Physical Resources
Maintain accurate patient records and reporting.
Assess, order, and advise on OT equipment; ensure Health & Safety and Infection Control compliance.
Governance
Maintain CPD, supervise staff/students, and participate in meetings.
Advise Team Lead on service changes to ensure quality and effectiveness.
Research & Audit
Participate in audit and evidence-based research projects; stay current with best practice standards.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
6. Experience within Paediatrics is desirable but not essential as training and support for your professional development will be provided. You will be provided with a robust induction that includes both Occupational Therapy specific aspects and also multi-disciplinary team input. We are committed to providing regular supervision and you will be given the opportunity to access regular CPD opportunities.
7. Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
8. Health Care Professions Council Registration
9. Post Registration Experience in Paediatric OT
10. Advanced knowledge and experience of a wide range of approaches to the management of Paediatric conditions
11. Advanced knowledge of normal childhood development
12. Experience of service development both in design and application
13. Good working knowledge of all areas of clinical governance including quality, audit and risk management
14. Good understanding of statistics and their evaluation
