Emergency Care Practitioner / Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ECP/ENP)
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Emergency Care Practitioner / Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ECP/ENP) to join our dynamic healthcare team at Crowborough Minor Injury Unit. We have two posts available with full and part‑time hours.
Clinical Responsibilities
* Exercise judgement in identifying, assessing and interpreting complicated conditions, requiring consideration of treatment and discharge planning for patients attending with minor complaints.
* Plan and organize activities within the unit with regards to service demand and the allocation and re‑allocation of staff to ensure clinical safety and effective patient discharge.
* Ensure all staff, including temporary staff and students, are aware of emergency procedures to follow.
* Lead others in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of care of patients in the unit in accordance with Trust ENP Guidelines and departmental protocols prior to discharge home or transfer of the patient to another hospital.
* Assist others in planning duty rotas to meet the requirements of the clinical area and the needs of the unit, taking skill mix and acuity into account.
* With due regard to Risk Management policies and procedures, ensure a safe environment for patients, relatives, carers and staff.
* Be familiar with the Major Incident Policy and assist as directed within that plan when necessary.
* Ensure provision of professional leadership and supervision to staff within own discipline and facilitate appropriate leadership for other disciplines.
Unit Management Responsibilities
* Accountable for the direct delivery of care to patients attending the Minor Injuries Unit, including assessment, requesting and interpreting diagnostic radiographs, diagnosis, treatment, and discharge or referral to other professionals.
* Ensure maintenance of high standards of nursing care; lead and participate in nursing and clinical audit in the unit, collecting and collating information as required.
* Manage the unit to record and monitor sickness, take corrective action when necessary, and participate in managing human and material resources.
* Apply local standards, policies and philosophies that further patient‑centred, individual and evidence‑based care, and in conjunction with other ENPs, ensure an annual training needs analysis is undertaken and communicated to the Clinical Lead.
* Promote evidence‑based innovative practice in delivery of nursing care and support others in implementing changes that improve care.
* Keep all medical and emergency equipment in safe condition, regularly check readiness, and report or replace faulty equipment as necessary.
* Understand the delegated unit budget, and participate in ordering supplies within the agreed budget.
