Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who has proven experience within a primary care setting to undertake clinical coding of hospital/clinic and miscellaneous correspondence within the practice.
About Us
The practice is a SystmOne base with 4 Partners, 10 Salaried GPs, 7 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, a Paramedic and a Nursing team, supported by a knowledgeable reception and administrative team. We provide safe and compassionate care to approximately 13,000 patients.
Job Responsibilities
* Process all incoming correspondence to the surgery, received physically or electronically via scanning and actioning as necessary to maintain accurate patient medical records.
* Extract necessary data from correspondence using workflow optimisation and input via clinical coding using SNOMED‑CT, or distribute as needed to other team members for action.
* Assist in the smooth running of the practice.
* Ensure that a comprehensive administrative service is provided to patients, visitors, health‑care professionals and colleagues at the practice and associated organisations.
* Contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring and review of practice procedures to maintain high professional standards.

* Ensure confidentiality of information (written, oral or electronic) is always preserved and compliant with contractual and legal requirements.
* Adhere to Caldicott Guardian and security requirements, Data Protection Act 2018, and all practice policies, protocols and procedures, including safeguarding and safeguarding policy.
* Support and participate in initiatives for a safe and healthy environment, controlling potential health‑and‑safety hazards.

* Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and promptly deal with complaints in accordance with practice policy.
* Perform duties to standards required by the practice, in accordance with quality assurance and continuing professional development.
* Maintain computer literacy.
Experience – Essential
* Knowledge of data protection and confidentiality.
* Knowledge of databases and spreadsheets; IM&T literacy; regular use of databases.
* Word processing and Excel.
Experience – Desirable
* Previous work in a medical, health or social care environment.
Qualifications – Essential
* RSA II or equivalent in typing/word processing.
Qualifications – Desirable
* Patient administration.
* Systems minute taking.
* Medical terminology report writing.
