We are recruiting Health Care Assistants to deliver community-based domiciliary care services within Milnthorpe and surrounding South Lakeland areas.
Purpose of the Role
To provide high-quality, person-centred domiciliary care to adults within their own homes in accordance with individual Care Plans, Risk Assessments, and Local Authority commissioned care packages.
The role supports individuals to maintain independence, dignity, safety, and wellbeing while promoting choice, control, and inclusion.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Personal Care and Daily Living Support
o Assist with washing, bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
o Provide continence support, including catheter and stoma care (where trained)
o Support safe moving and handling in line with risk assessments
o Assist with medication administration in accordance with company policy and training
o Support nutrition, hydration, and meal preparation
2. Specialist and Complex Support (where required and trained)
o Dementia care support
o Palliative and end-of-life care
o Supporting individuals with physical disabilities
o Supporting individuals with learning disabilities
o Managing behaviours that challenge in a safe and person-centred manner
3. Safeguarding and Compliance
o Adhere to safeguarding policies and report concerns immediately
o Work in line with the Care Act 2014 and local safeguarding procedures
o Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care delivered
o Follow infection prevention and control procedures
o Maintain confidentiality in accordance with GDPR
4. Professional Conduct
o Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion
o Maintain professional boundaries at all times
o Work collaboratively with families, social workers, district nurses, and other professionals
o Participate in supervision, appraisal, and mandatory training
Working Environment
This role involves lone working within service users’ homes across Milnthorpe and surrounding rural areas of South Lakeland.
Due to the rural geography of Cumbria, travel between service users may be required. A driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable.
Pay and Conditions
* Hourly Rate: £13.45 per hour
* Pension contribution in line with statutory requirements

Person Specification
Essential:
* Right to work in the UK
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
* Ability to work in accordance with care plans and risk assessments
* Good communication skills
* Commitment to safeguarding and person-centred care
Desirable:
* Previous experience in Health and Social Care
* NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care
* Driving licence and access to vehicle
