Role Overview

To plan and deliver 1:1 and group Construction sessions to Secondary young people and Post-16 who are not able to access education due to social, emotional, SEN or medical needs.

The successful candidate will be located at our Hampton site, reporting into the AP Manager (Hampton).

This a full-time, term time only, role, working 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday.

The salary range for this position is £30,000 - £35,000 (actual). The successful candidate will be remunerated dependent on their experience.

Core Responsibilities

· Planning, preparing, and delivering up to level 3 in a range of Construction qualifications and evaluate these activities to inform future learning and ensure we meet the diverse needs and interests of each child

· Providing learning opportunities for every student commensurate to her/his needs, abilities, and stage of development, by teaching a programme that gives each student the opportunity to experience success, and which challenges all students to achieve their full potential.

· Establish effective and positive relationships with students based on mutual respect, recognition of the individuality of each student and affirming their cultural identity.

· To work as part of a committed and enthusiastic Oak Activities team focused on teaching pupils at our vocational site in Peterborough.

· To maintain individual records for each child based on observation and interaction, in order to monitor and track their progress and as a tool for planning and assessment.

· To direct the teaching assistants/learning support assistants assigned to the students and work supportively and collaboratively as part of this small team.

· To work in close partnership with schools, parents/carers/multi agency teams.

· To behave in a warm, friendly yet professional manner towards customers, colleagues, children, and parents/carers adhering to full safeguarding practices.

· To be key worker/lead tutor for a small group of students and support with their pastoral welfare.

· To attend and participate in meetings as required.

· To attend any training for professional development to keep up to date with personal development and regulations.

You may be expected to carry out other duties commensurate with the post as directed by the AP Manager.

Person Specification

Qualifications

· GCSEs in English and Maths - Essential

· Technical aspects of Construction - Essential

· Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) - Essential

· Higher degree or further professional qualifications - Desirable

· Evidence of involvement in continuing professional development activities - Desirable

Successful experience of:

· 1:1 tuition teaching leading to strong student progress - Essential

· Working in the business sector - Essential

· Supporting students with ACEs through a trauma-informed approach - Essential

· Raising the attainment of SEND and/or alternative provision students through positive interventions - Essential

· Forming positive relationships with young people and parents - Essential

· Liaising with external agencies to support a young person - Desirable

· Implementing the principles of Cambridge Therapeutic Thinking - Desirable

Knowledge and skills

· Understanding of child-safeguarding issues and successful measures that promote and ensure the safeguarding of children - Essential

· Excellent organisational skills - Essential
