As a Student Support Mentor, you’ll work alongside teachers to support students both in and out of the classroom. You’ll be responsible for working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and those who require extra support in their learning. This is a great role for psychology graduates, aspiring teachers, or anyone with a passion for working with young people.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 or small group support to students with additional needs
* Assist with behaviour management and classroom support during lessons
* Support students with personal development and wellbeing
* Help students access the curriculum by providing tailored resources
* Encourage a positive attitude towards learning and school life
* Support the wider school community in promoting inclusivity and wellbeing
Essential Requirements:
* Experience of working with young people, ideally in an educational setting
* Understanding of SEN and SEMH needs (training provided if necessary)
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students
* A caring, patient, and proactive approach to supporting students
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
