Each year over 70,000 wax garments are sent back to Barbour globally to be repaired, rewaxed or altered.
Position Overview:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Infrastructure & Security Engineer to join our IT team on a temporary basis in a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role will be key to support the maintenance and security of our technology infrastructure.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Assist in the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of servers, networks, and cloud infrastructure.
* Monitor system performance and availability, responding to alerts and incidents.
* Support patch management and vulnerability remediation efforts.
* Help implement and enforce security policies, procedures, and best practices.
* Participate in security monitoring, log analysis, and incident response activities.
* Assist with user access management and endpoint protection.
* Create and maintain regular cybersecurity reports for the business, including:
* Phishing simulation scores and trends.
* Per-endpoint vulnerability scores and remediation progress.
* Other relevant security KPIs as required.
* Document infrastructure configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
* Collaborate with other IT teams to support business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
* Stay up to date with emerging threats, technologies, and industry trends.
* Assist the service desk team with technical troubleshooting and take escalations where appropriate.
Skills and Experience:
Essential:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent)
* Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, firewalls).
* Familiarity with Windows and/or Linux server environments.
* Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) is a plus.
* Awareness of cybersecurity principles and common threats.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
* Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced IT environment.
Desirable:
* Internship or hands-on experience in IT support, infrastructure, or security.
* Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, or Microsoft/Azure Fundamentals.
* Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) is a bonus.
Additional information:
* Some UK travel may be required for support and project work.
* This is a temporary 12-month fixed term contract.
