Location: Leeds / Manchester / Newcastle (60% onsite)
Duration: 12-Month Contract

We're looking for an experienced Interim Technical Lead to help modernise and scale a high-profile, national digital service used by millions.

This is a hands‑on leadership role within a major transformation programme - moving from monolithic systems to modern microservices, standardising engineering practices, and strengthening cloud and DevOps capability.

Responsibilities:

* Lead and mentor engineering teams
* Set technical direction aligned to strategy
* Deliver secure, high-quality, scalable services
* Build APIs and server‑side applications
* Champion CI/CD, automation, and best practice
* Support and evolve high‑traffic platforms

Required Experience:

Either:

* Java, microservices, APIs, automated testing, MongoDB, Kafka

Or:

* AWS, Terraform, GitLab CI/Jenkins, DevOps, Infrastructure as Code

Plus:

* Strong technical leadership in complex environments
* Linux/Unix systems and scalable architectures
