If you are on the Paediatric Critical Care course, you can apply for the job and be appointed once you have achieved a pass of the course.

We are a 14-bed Paediatric Critical Care Unit comprising 8 Paediatric Intensive Care beds and 6 Paediatric High Dependency beds. You must be an RN, RSCN, or RN Child qualified nurse with substantial experience working in a Paediatric Critical Care environment as a Band 5 nurse. You must hold a recognised Critical Care qualification and Mentors and Assessors qualification. You will be expected to lead a team, deputise, and coordinate care on the Unit in the absence of a Band 7 Sister.

You must demonstrate excellent organisational skills and be expected to support a cohort of Band 5 nurses.

In addition to the above, you need to familiarise yourself with the full Job Description and Person Specification documents attached to this advert.

The post holder will act as Deputy to the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse and will be required to:

1. Be an effective leader and role model, regularly taking charge of the Unit, ensuring high standards and quality of care.
2. Provide regular direct clinical care and support the implementation of clinical and non-clinical governance.
3. Support a cohort of Band 5 nurses, carrying out yearly appraisals and ensuring staff training is up to date.
4. Be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
