In 1728, Aspall was founded by Clement Chevallier in the parish of Aspall, Suffolk. While all around him were growing cereals, he chose to plant apple trees. Almost 300 years on, we're still going against the grain, making remarkable cyder & cyder vinegars at the original Aspall Cyder House. Your P urpose As an Engineer, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient operation and maintenance of all production and non-production facilities and equipment across the site. This includes planned and reactive maintenance carried out directly, through teamwork, or via the effective management of projects and contractors. You will ensure full compliance with all relevant EHS standards and legislation, promoting safe working practices for yourself, colleagues, and contractors at all times. Key Responsibilities Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on all mechanical and electrical plant and equipment, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and undertake fabrication work where required. Diagnose and resolve faults on PLC and control systems. Perform effective fault finding using root cause analysis and the BDE process to ensure timely, permanent repairs and minimise downtime. Ensure full compliance with health and safety standards on every task, including QRP requirements, permits, and LOTO procedures. Install, commission, and maintain new plant, equipment, and services, including site lighting systems. Complete routine maintenance checks on boilers, water filtration systems, refrigeration plant, and air compressors. Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and housekeeping within the department and all working areas. Ensure all maintenance records are accurately completed and maintained within the CMMS system to support BRC and associated audits. Work in compliance with all relevant hygiene standards, EHS legislation, and permit-to-work systems, including working at height, confined spaces, and hot works. Apply best practice at all times, including (but not limited to) HACCP, COSHH, BRC, FEMAS, and Aspall SOPs, hygiene, and safety standards. Maintain all mandatory training and legislative compliance. About You Time-served engineer with a recognised apprenticeship, minimum Level 3 qualification in a relevant discipline or degree in an electrical or mechanical discipline. Proven experience of preventative maintenance and engineering techniques across process control, packaging, and utilities. Electrical bias, strong knowledge of PLCs; and 18th Edition certification. Able to work cross-functionally with excellent communication and teamwork skills. You may not meet all the criteria for the role, but don't let that stop you from applying.
