Graduate Health and Safety Advisor Job Description -Role Overview A Graduate Health and Safety Advisor supports the implementation and maintenance of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) systems within an organisation. This entry-level role is designed for recent graduates looking to develop practical experience in workplace safety, risk management, and compliance with legislation. Key Responsibilities -Health & Safety Support Assist in implementing company health and safety policies and procedures Support compliance with relevant legislation (e.g. Health and Safety at Work Act) Promote a positive health and safety culture across the organisation Risk Assessment & Inspections Help carry out risk assessments and identify potential hazards Participate in site inspections and safety audits Report unsafe conditions and recommend corrective actions Incident Reporting & Investigation Assist in investigating accidents, incidents, and near-misses Help prepare reports and identify root causes Support implementation of preventative measures Training & Communication Support delivery of safety inductions and toolbox talks Assist in developing safety awareness campaigns Communicate safety information to employees and contractors Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate H&S records and documentation Assist in preparing reports for internal and external audits Ensure policies and procedures are up to date Environmental & Compliance (if applicable) Support environmental initiatives and sustainability goals Assist in monitoring environmental performance Skills and Competencies Strong attention to detail Good communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Problem-solving and analytical thinking Good organisational and time-management skills Qualifications & Requirements Degree (or working towards) in: Health & Safety Environmental Science Engineering or related discipline Knowledge of basic health and safety legislation Membership or working towards IOSH (e.g. GradIOSH) NEBOSH General Certificate (desirable or willingness to obtain) IT skills (Microsoft Office, reporting tools) Typical Working Environment Combination of office-based work and site visits (construction, manufacturing, or corporate settings) May require travel between sites PPE required when visiting operational areas Skills: H&S knowledge Attention to detail Clear Communication Skills proactive mindset Benefits: Gym Group Life Assurance Parking Mobile Phone Laptop Paid Holidays
