Overview
Hydrologist - Senior/Principal (WINEP and Water Resources) role at WSP in the UK & Ireland.
What you will do
* Lead and contribute to high-profile Water Industry Natural Environment Programme (WINEP) and Water Resources Management Plan (WRMP) projects across the UK.
* Support the progression of AMP8 WINEP projects for multiple UK water companies; contribute to Environmental Destination investigations.
* Work with the Catchment Science team across water resources, hydrology, hydraulics, water quality, hydroecology and hydrogeology to deliver technical services to clients including government departments, water companies and other sectors.
* Develop rainfall–runoff models and apply model calibration techniques; apply broader hydrology approaches for water resources applications in England and Wales.
* Support demand management and water resources modelling approaches; apply UK water resources management regulations including the Water Resources Planning Guidelines and WINEP guidance.
* Assess climate change resilience and contribute to high-quality client and regulator-facing deliverables; collaborate with other sectors/discipline teams to deliver hydrological work.
* Desirable: programming experience (e.g., Python and/or R) and a willingness to develop these skills; excellent written and verbal communication for concise reports.
Qualifications
* A water-focused MSc (e.g., hydrology & water resources, sustainable water management) and a BSc in a related subject (e.g., physical geography, earth sciences, geology, civil engineering).
* Working towards or gained chartership with a relevant professional body.
