Prospero Teaching is working with a SEMH (Social Emotional Mental Health) school in Hulme. The school caters to students with additional needs and mental health issues.

The role is starting as soon as possible, with a view to stay for the entire academic year.

The school provides education for pupils who have an educational plan to receive their education in a specialist setting due to their learning needs.

The school accepts pupils who have been identified as not suitable for mainstream education.

The pupils are aged 11-16 years old (KS3/4) with EHCP plans and additional needs.

Many pupils have experienced trauma, neglect, or chaotic home lives.

Your role is to build connections with the young people, acting as a mentor and role model.

Due to barriers in the classroom, the role involves forging strong relationships with pupils.

You will use mentoring skills—similar to those used in sports, drama, or counselling—to help students engage with school.

You will support pupils both in the classroom and vocationally outside of it.

The position is open to experienced mentors or those with a strong background in mentoring children and young adults. Depending on performance, there may be opportunities to extend the contract or offer a permanent position.
