Overview
The Public Health & Communities Division at Nottinghamshire County Council commissions a range of Public Health services and works with other organisations to improve health and wellbeing in the population and reduce health inequalities. We now have a 24‑month fixed term vacancy for an experienced professional to join our team to support the Public Health & Communities Division and Adult Social Care Department to improve outcomes through evidence in all policies and increase research capacity and capability.
The post is partly funded by the Specialist Centre for Public Health, as part of the National Institute for Health and Care Research. Nottinghamshire County Council’s ambition is to enact evidence in all policies and become a research‑active local authority, supported across its Public Health and Adult Social Care departments.
Role and Responsibilities
• Convert research evidence into actionable policy recommendations. • Support staff in developing skills and training in research methodologies, evaluation and evidence synthesis. • Build a culture of local decision‑making informed by robust research. • Contribute to the development and implementation of research governance systems and processes. • Work proactively in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to achieve evidence in all policies.
Qualifications and Experience
• Qualified to degree level (or demonstrable equivalent experience in breadth and rigour to degree level). • Relevant experience in Public Health, Adult Social Care or a related subject, with a background in research and collaborative work. • Excellent communication, planning and problem‑solving skills. • Highly organised, flexible and able to manage competing priorities.
Work Details
• Primarily based at County Hall, Nottingham, or Meadow House, Mansfield. • Hybrid working arrangement allows working from home as well as in the office.
Nottinghamshire County Council has an NHS Pension Direction Order in place, allowing access to the NHS Pension Scheme for eligible new joiners to public health roles who are already in the NHSPS.
