Facilities Assistant Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 8am - 5pm Location: St John's Wood The Role: My client are seeking a proactive, reliable, and hands-on Facilities Assistant to join thier dedicated site team. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of their facilities by performing essential routine checks, preventative maintenance tasks, and assisting with reactive works. Key Responsibilities: Water Hygiene Management: Perform routine flushing of all designated water outlets across the ground, adhering to water hygiene procedures and schedules. Accurately take and record tap temperatures at specified sentinel outlets, identifying and reporting any anomalies. Emergency Systems Testing: Conduct periodic testing of emergency lighting systems throughout the premises, ensuring full functionality and compliance with safety regulations. Documentation & Compliance: Maintain meticulous and up-to-date records for all completed tasks, tests, and checks on site, ensuring all paperwork is accurate and audit-ready. Assist in upholding site-specific health and safety, and compliance standards. Reactive Maintenance Support: Provide hands-on assistance with various reactive maintenance tasks and general site repairs as required, supporting the wider facilities team. Assist with minor fabric repairs and general upkeep tasks around the site. Team Collaboration: Work effectively as a key member of the facilities team, contributing to a positive and productive working environment. Communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues and management regarding work progress and issues. Flexibility & Overtime: Be available for occasional overtime, which may include out-of-hours work, to meet operational demands and respond to urgent situations. Skills & Experience: Proven experience in a facilities support, maintenance assistant, or similar hands-on role is desirable. A strong understanding of basic building maintenance principles. Ability to accurately follow instructions and adhere to established procedures (e.g., for water flushing and testing). Good record-keeping skills with attention to detail. Basic IT literacy for data entry and record management. A proactive and methodical approach to problem-solving. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team. A willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and challenges. A bias towards fabric work (e.g., minor repairs, painting, general upkeep) is desirable but not essential, as training can be provided.
