Network Field Service Engineer
We are seeking a Network Field Service Engineer to join our on-site team delivering a Managed Service to one of our main clients sitein Preston. This is an operational, site-based role ensuring contractual SLAs are met, device failures are resolved promptly, and customer satisfaction is consistently achieved.
Key Responsibilities
* Physical installation of switches and network equipment
* Configuration of switching infrastructure and Juniper Wireless Access Points
* Troubleshooting and resolving wired network issues (with support from the wider team)
* Maintaining network availability through routine documentation and maintenance practices
* Replacing faulty hardware components (switches, access points, peripherals) when required
* Providing professional updates to customers on incidents, problems, and changes via phone and email
* Maintaining ITSM systems with high-quality work notes
* Participating in an on-call rota to provide onsite support for P1 and P2 incidents, including hardware replacement where necessary
* Engaging with third-party vendors to progress support calls and technical advice
* Ensuring excellent standards of customer care at all times
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
Essential:
* Knowledge of Juniper switching and wireless
* Knowledge of best practice LAN cabling
* Self-starter with the ability to work independently
* Strong communication skills, able to explain technical issues clearly to different audiences
* Team player, flexible, resilient, and professional
* Customer-facing IT support experience in a fast-paced environment
* Evidence of working effectively in a team
Desirable:
* Hands-on Juniper experience
* Network security knowledge
* Experience in network cabling installation and site surveying
